monuments in the world.<\/p><p>Split, like other cities on the Croatian coast, is full of magnificent places that are worth visiting such as the famous <strong>Ruins of Salona<\/strong>, \u200b\u200bcomposed of the remains of an ancient Roman settlement. In fact, Salona, \u200b\u200bcurrently called Solin, <strong>is the most important archaeological site in Croatia<\/strong>.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Another symbolic place of Split is the <strong>Marjan Hill<\/strong>, the green lung of the city. In Marjan eco-tourism is the norm, and you can join the locals while taking a bike ride, or walking up to the top. When you are in the highest part of Marjan, you will get a beautiful and unmatched view of Split, and if you arrive just in time to see the sunset, the experience will be even more memorable.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Meanwhile, to the west of the city you will find the <strong>Republic Square<\/strong>, very close to the main port of Split. This square is one of the main meeting points among the locals. Similarly, another must-see site is the <strong>Fruit Square<\/strong>, where you will find a variety of cafes, bistros and a lively commercial life.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Other must-see attractions in Split include the <strong>Cindro Palace<\/strong>, the <strong>Kliss Fortress<\/strong> and the <strong>Iv\u00e1n Me\u0161trovi\u0107 Art Gallery<\/strong>. On the other hand, if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you can go to the idyllic <strong>Hvar<\/strong>, known as the lavender island, or to <strong>Brac<\/strong>, an island famous for its beautiful beaches.
