class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Eger Castle<\/strong> is located on a hillside to the east of the city. This palace was built in the 12th century, a time when it also suffered significant damage, due to the attack by the Mongols in 1241.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Throughout its history, this fortress had to face a series of important battles. The best known occurred in 1552, and was called the Siege of Eger. For this reason, the castle became an important historical element for Hungary.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Subsequently, the Turks besieged the castle again in 1596, resulting in a Turkish victory.
