square is one of the most notorious in the Italian capital, however, its origins are a bit confusing. There is no consensus on the reasons for its foundation, but it is presumed that it was created to accompany a nearby chapel, and that its construction was financed by the people of <a href=\"https:\/\/tripaim.com\/blog\/en\/rome\/rome\"><span style=\"color: #842000;\"><strong>Rome<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, hence its name.&nbsp;<\/p><p><br><\/p><p>Despite this, another theory states that, in reality, its name comes from its location. Since it is located at the foot of Mount Pincio, in an area of very low elevation that in Latin is known as populus, and in Spanish it means poplar. Likewise, this proposal on the origins of the square suggests that this peculiar place was chosen because there was the tomb of the emperor Nero.<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p>Be that as it may, <strong>Popolo Square<\/strong> has become one of the most frequented public spaces in Rome, both by locals and tourists.
