stands the <strong>Cairo Tower<\/strong>, the telecommunications tower. Built in granite between 1954 and 1961, its open lattice design is inspired by the lotus flower, a symbol of ancient Egypt. It is the work of the Egyptian architect Naoum Chebib.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>It was inaugurated on April 11, 1961 by then-President Gamal Abdel
