At that time, there were few settlements in the Balkan area of the Adriatic Sea, and in the place where the city of Split is today, there was simply nothing.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Dalmatia began to be populated when, in the year 305, the Emperor Diocletian left his post and retired to live in his palace.
