Similarly, they could not afford to create a monument that only served a decorative purpose, and was not useful to citizens.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Despite this, the project was carried out and the person in charge of giving life to the <strong>Robba Fountain<\/strong> was an Italian sculptor, known as Francesco Robba. This renowned artist was born in Venice, but spent most of his life in Ljubljana.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Likewise, Robba was a great admirer of Bernini&#8217;s works, and wanted the Slovenian capital to have a fountain similar to the Fountain of the Four Rivers, located in the mythical Piazza Navona.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>In this way, the Robba Fountain was born, which was transferred to the center of Ljubljana in 1751. The sculptures represent three men of mythological appearance, very similar to the statues that adorn the Fountain of the Four Rivers.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>In the case of the Robba Fountain, these artistic representations personify the three great rivers of Slovenia, the Krka, the Sava and the Ljubljanica. These waterways are part of the country&#8217;s natural treasure, and are among the most mentioned elements of Slovenian history.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Similarly, the <strong>Robba Fountain<\/strong> stands on a wide base, which is composed of five steps, and is shaped like a decahedron. During its early years, the Robba Fountain also served as a well for running water, where citizens could have access to clean water free of impurities.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Currently, the Robba Fountain does not fulfill this function, but it is still one of the most loved and appreciated monuments by locals, as well as an important tourist
