Dentro de esta enorme zona de influencia espa\u00f1ola, se encontraba La Habana, que en aquellos tiempos era un puerto peque\u00f1o y de escaza poblaci\u00f3n.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Sin embargo, esto cambiaba r\u00e1pidamente, ya que la isla de Cuba se estaba transformado en un punto comercial de gran relevancia para los marineros que navegaban por el caribe. Frecuentemente, el puerto de La Habana sufr\u00eda ataques por parte de piratas y corsarios, quienes eran grupos mar\u00edtimos comunes en la regi\u00f3n.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Debido a ello, la administraci\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola not\u00f3 que era necesario crear un fuerte, desde el cual fuera posible proteger el puerto y las embarcaciones castellanas. Asimismo, La Habana contaba con un terreno alto y rocoso, ubicado justo al borde de la costa, ideal para edificar una fortaleza.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>As\u00ed nace el <strong>Castillo del Morro<\/strong>, uno de los s\u00edmbolos m\u00e1s representativos de la capital cubana.
