Asimismo, la posici\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica de esta fortaleza, que se alza sobre la cima de una colina, han hecho de ella un centro de defensa militar desde tiempos inmemoriales.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Del mismo modo, no se sabe en qu\u00e9 momento empez\u00f3 la construcci\u00f3n del castillo, pero a mediados del siglo XI, este ya exist\u00eda. A lo largo de los siglos, el palacio m\u00e1s famoso de Edimburgo ha funcionado como cuartel, hogar de reyes, centro de acopio y sede de gobierno.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Entre sus otras facetas, el <strong>Castillo de Edimburgo<\/strong> tambi\u00e9n presenci\u00f3 una amplia cacer\u00eda de brujas, quienes eran quemadas en las cercan\u00edas del palacio. Por supuesto, dentro de las paredes de este viej\u00edsimo fuerte se llevaron a cabo actos terribles, como detenciones, ajusticiamientos y torturas.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Hoy en d\u00eda, este castillo es uno de los edificios m\u00e1s representativos de Edimburgo.
