parte del proyecto de la Ciudad Nueva de <a href=\"https:\/\/tripaim.com\/blog\/praga\/praga\"><span style=\"color: #842000;\"><strong>Praga<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, decretado por el c\u00e9lebre rey de Bohemia y emperador del Sacro Imperio Romano, Carlos IV, en 1348. <strong>Estaba destinada a ser uno de los principales mercados de Praga<\/strong>. El nombre original, \u00abMercado de caballos\u00bb, se cambi\u00f3 a la Plaza de San Wenceslao en 1848.&nbsp;<\/p><p><br><\/p><p>En la actualidad, la Plaza de Wenceslao es, entre otras cosas, <strong>un punto de encuentro tradicional para los ciudadanos de Praga<\/strong>. Tambi\u00e9n es uno de los centros culturales m\u00e1s populares de la ciudad.<\/p>\n<p>Igualmente, la plaza ha sido sede de muchos eventos hist\u00f3ricos significativos.&nbsp;<\/p><p><br><\/p><p>Por ejemplo, de pie frente a la estatua de San Wenceslao, el famoso escritor y pol\u00edtico checo <strong>Alois Jir\u00e1sek<\/strong> ley\u00f3 el documento que proclamaba la fundaci\u00f3n de la Checoslovaquia independiente, en 1918.<\/p>\n<p><br><\/p><p>Tambi\u00e9n, durante la <strong>ocupaci\u00f3n alemana de Checoslovaquia<\/strong>, los nazis utilizaron la Plaza de Wenceslao para desfiles militares y actos de propaganda.
