empez\u00f3 en el a\u00f1o 1753, cuando el Estado ingl\u00e9s recibi\u00f3 una donaci\u00f3n de 80.000 piezas hist\u00f3ricas, la mayor\u00eda de ellas libros, procedentes de la colecci\u00f3n privada del naturalista Hans Loane.<\/p><p>Loane quer\u00eda que su preciada colecci\u00f3n fuese conservada adecuadamente, y que tambi\u00e9n estuviera disponible para los ciudadanos brit\u00e1nicos. Para cumplir este deseo, la administraci\u00f3n brit\u00e1nica design\u00f3 un lugar especial en donde todas las piezas donadas por Sloane, ser\u00edan expuestas p\u00fablicamente.<\/p><p>Con el pasar de los a\u00f1os, la colecci\u00f3n del <strong>Museo Brit\u00e1nico<\/strong> fue creciendo, hasta alcanzar la incre\u00edble cantidad de 50.000 obras en exposici\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, las instalaciones del museo resguardan millones de otros objetos, que se encuentran all\u00ed para su estudio o preservaci\u00f3n.<\/p><p>Hoy en d\u00eda, el Museo Brit\u00e1nico recibe a un total de 5.828.552 visitantes anualmente, siendo el museo m\u00e1s concurrido de toda Gran Breta\u00f1a.
