Un recorrido para sentir diversas atm\u00f3sferas: vientos fuertes, lluvias intensas, sol radiante, aire fresco. Son nueve kil\u00f3metros moliendo pierna, alrededor de cinco horas para llegar a la cima de las <strong>Torres del Paine<\/strong>, y la misma distancia y tiempo para volver. Es enorme. No est\u00e1 de m\u00e1s pasar una tarde recorriendo el puerto, ver las aves que sobrevuelan el Golfo Almirante Montt, o disfrutar de los trucos extremos en el skatepark del muelle.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Desde muy temprano en la ma\u00f1ana, salen los buses regulares desde la terminal de Puerto Natales hacia las entradas de acceso al Parque Nacional <strong>Torres del Paine<\/strong>. Es un trayecto que ronda las 3 horas, en el cual recomiendo dormir para llegar con m\u00e1s energ\u00eda al trekking.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>A los pocos metros de iniciar el recorrido, conoc\u00ed a Julien, un ingeniero franc\u00e9s del que no me desped\u00ed hasta el final de la jornada. Creo que a veces es agradable realizar largas caminatas en soledad con la naturaleza, pero otras veces es mejor estar acompa\u00f1ado, mucho m\u00e1s en este parque donde hay tanto para ver, compartir el asombro, charlar de la vida, y tomarse buenas fotos en lugar de solo selfies.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>El recorrido comienza con un leve ascenso hacia monta\u00f1as de faldas verdes. Aunque era un d\u00eda soleado del verano austral, con la altura empezaron a llegar lluvias y ventarrones. Hay que tener una buena chaqueta o capa impermeable para no tener que llegar empapado a la cima.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Luego siguen descensos que conducen al r\u00edo Ascencio y los \u00e1rboles frondosos que lo bordean. Las cuestas no tardan en regresar, con senderos trazados en medio de bosque de lenga. Cuando faltaba solo un kil\u00f3metro para alcanzar la meta, con Julian decidimos parar a almorzar en uno de los refugios. Creo que no fue mala idea porque el ascenso final es muy exigente, un camino empinado y con muchos obst\u00e1culos.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Desde abajo se ve a la gente que conquista la cima como diminutos soldados de juguete. Cuando llegamos\u00a0 a la Base de las Torres, a 870 msnm, la neblina hac\u00eda imposible verlas en su totalidad. No pod\u00edamos creer tan mala suerte: haber caminado cinco horas y no encontrar la anhelada imagen.
