El nombre original de esta estructura era Pont du Havre, pero m\u00e1s tarde fue rebautizado como <strong>Puente Jacques Cartier<\/strong>.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Jacques Cartier es uno de los personajes m\u00e1s importante de Canad\u00e1, \u00e9l fue el primer explorador europeo en llegar a las costas de Montreal e interactuar con las tribus nativas de la zona.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Igualmente, Cartier dibuj\u00f3 el primer mapa conocido de la costa canadiense, y abri\u00f3 paso a los primeros asentamientos de colonos franco-brit\u00e1nicos, aunque ninguna de estas colonias fue permanente sino hasta el siglo XVI.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Posteriormente, muchos parques, monumentos y edificios recibieron el nombre de este explorador.
