al igual que la mayor\u00eda de las colonias del antiguo Imperio Espa\u00f1ol, gan\u00f3 su independencia a mediados del siglo XIX. De esta manera, pas\u00f3 de ser una simple provincia a proclamarse como una rep\u00fablica aut\u00f3noma.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Como es de esperar, Chile tuvo que empezar a crear sus propias instituciones, que inclu\u00edan el gobierno, los poderes estatales y la moneda de uso nacional. En aquel entonces, Chile ya ten\u00eda una casa de la moneda, herencia de su periodo colonial, la cual hab\u00eda sido inaugurada en el a\u00f1o 1805.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Despu\u00e9s de realizar algunas reformas, el <strong>Palacio de la Moneda<\/strong> empez\u00f3 a trabajar como una entidad p\u00fablica, en donde se acu\u00f1aban las monedas de curso legal en Chile.
