Entre los edificios que fueron construidos para albergar las sedes gubernamentales, se encontraba el <strong>Capitolio<\/strong>.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Este fue inaugurado en 1929, y originalmente iba a ser el lugar de encuentro oficial de los principales poderes del gobierno cubano, que en aquel entonces eran el parlamento y el senado. Sin embargo, luego de la Revoluci\u00f3n Cubana, el edificio del Capitolio pas\u00f3 a ser la sede del Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnolog\u00eda.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Asimismo, esta gran obra arquitect\u00f3nica continu\u00f3 siendo la m\u00e1s resaltante de toda la capital cubana por muchos a\u00f1os m\u00e1s, pero el aislamiento pol\u00edtico y geogr\u00e1fico de la isla impidi\u00f3 que fuese m\u00e1s conocido internacionalmente.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Pese a ello, La Habana cada vez se abre m\u00e1s a los turistas, tanto locales como extranjeros, lo que le ha dado un aire m\u00e1s renovado a la ciudad y a sus monumentos. Se dice que esta joya perteneci\u00f3 a Nicol\u00e1s II, el \u00faltimo zar de Rusia.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>El diamante del Capitolio marcaba el kil\u00f3metro cero de todas las carreteras cubanas, y era visto como el s\u00edmbolo que daba inicio al progreso de la naci\u00f3n.
