Sin embargo, esta tranquilidad es reciente, ya que la historia de esta naci\u00f3n b\u00e1ltica destaca por ser accidentada.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Durante siglos, los letones tuvieron que sufrir los asedios y conquistas de pa\u00edses m\u00e1s poderosos, lo que perjudicaba su identidad nacional. De hecho, no ser\u00eda hasta inicios del siglo XX, en que Letonia reclamar\u00eda su independencia del Imperio Ruso.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Esta declaraci\u00f3n de autonom\u00eda se realiz\u00f3 en el <strong>Teatro Nacional<\/strong>, un recinto cultural que ya llevaba unos cuantos a\u00f1os en funcionamiento. Las pocas fotograf\u00edas que se conservan de este hecho hist\u00f3rico, muestran a los representantes de Letonia en las entradas del teatro, poco antes de anunciar la separaci\u00f3n de Rusia.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Lamentablemente, la independencia letona no fue reconocida sino hasta 1991, casi un siglo despu\u00e9s de ser proclamada.
