You will find the most amazing views of the Egyptian city here, in the Cairo Tower, one of the tallest towers in the world and one of the main tourist attractions in Cairo.
In Cairo, next to the river Nile, in the Zamalek district stands the Cairo Tower, the telecommunications tower. Built in granite between 1954 and 1961, its open lattice design is inspired by the lotus flower, a symbol of ancient Egypt. It is the work of the Egyptian architect Naoum Chebib.
It was inaugurated on April 11, 1961 by then-President Gamal Abdel Naser.
The Cairo Tower is the top of the city, measuring 187 meters (614 feet) and taller than the Great Pyramid of Giza, Cheops.
At its summit it houses a revolving restaurant, a cafeteria and a viewpoint where you can get the best views of Cairo, weather permitting.
To access the top you have to buy a ticket, so I recommend you choose the most propitious moment to see Cairo from the top.
The first time I went up to the Cairo Tower was during the day and on another occasion I visited it at night. For me the best time to visit the Cairo Tower is at dusk when the city lights begin to illuminate. It’s quite a show.
