Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is one of the oldest, most enigmatic, mysterious and magnificent European cities in existence. This British metropolis is known for its endless alleys, classical architecture, renowned cultural centers, and colorful Victoria Street.

The city of Edinburgh is not the most populated city in Scotland, that position corresponds to the town of Glasgow, where the largest urban concentration in the country is. However, Edinburgh remains the main focus of local commerce, arts and politics.
In this legendary city we find treasures such as the Museum of Scotland, St. Gil’s Cathedral, the National Monument, the Royal Mile, the Grassmarket and Victoria Street. The latter is part of one of the busiest areas in Edinburgh, connecting the Old Town with the New Town, and also serves as a junction between the Grassmarket and other avenues in the area.
Victoria Street was originally known as West Bow, but was renamed when the iconic Victoria ascended to the British throne. In it, the houses and buildings are much more colorful than in the rest of the city, and they are distributed in a curved way, challenging the traditional straight organization that characterizes other areas of the metropolis.
In addition, Victoria Street is home to a wide variety of independent shops, which make up one of the most curious and fun shopping sectors in Scotland.

When you get to Victoria Street, what is most striking are its quirky colors. On this avenue the buildings are next to each other, almost without any kind of physical separation, but it is easy to differentiate them thanks to the bright colors of their facades.
These can be in such extravagant shades as fuchsia, purple, orange and green. In the same way, the balconies of the apartments are usually decorated with plants and many types of flowers, which gives Victoria Street a fairy tale atmosphere.
All these characteristics made Edinburgh’s most unique avenue become one of its most visited tourist spots. Similarly, Victoria Street inspired the British writer, JK Rowling, to create the wonderful universe of Harry Potter.
Therefore, several of the shops in the area are decorated as if they were magic shops, which makes Victoria Street an unmissable visit for all lovers of fantastic literature.

As expected, the main attractions of Victoria Street are its premises inspired by the Harry Potter saga and its beautiful diversity of colors. Despite this, here we can also find cozy cafes, interesting bookstores, food stalls, small tea shops, fashion boutiques and even some restaurants.
Be that as it may, you can’t go to Edinburgh and not walk down Victoria Street. This is the most entertaining and joyful side of the city, so if you want to live a moment as pleasant as it is fun, make sure this street is on your list of tours that you cannot miss.
Do you know where we will meet in Edinburgh? Of course, on Victoria Street!
