Fantastic Seville houses endless treasures, while combining modernity with its incredible historical tradition. This city can pleasantly surprise us while we appreciate a monument of several centuries old or an avant-garde building. So, let’s go tour Seville in two days.
The historic center of Seville houses what you need to consume a whole day. Being there, we will let ourselves be trapped by its magical streets while we find ourselves one by one with architectural wonders. Some may even take our breath away, given their enormous proportions.
Precisely in this area, our tour can start at the magnificent Seville Cathedral, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Likewise, this building is classified as the largest Gothic-style temple in the world, and it was erected on the remains of an old mosque.
Do you want more? In Seville you find it. And it is that a few meters from the ostentatious Cathedral, we will come across the General Archive of the Indies. This is a real treasure for those who are interested in historical subjects, especially since this place houses the documents related to the Spanish colonial administration on the American territories. A true Hispanic American gem.
Both the cathedral and the archive are in the middle of the emblematic and colorful Santa Cruz neighborhood. It can be said that this is one of the most beautiful sectors of Seville, if not the most. In addition, being a Jewish quarter, it preserves interesting vestiges of the Jewish presence in the city.
For this reason, Santa Cruz is worth exploring on foot, because it is also possible to find other interesting places, such as the Casa de la Provincia, the Plaza Virgen de los Reyes and La Giralda. The latter stands out for the combination of its Christian and Muslim architecture, fusing the symbolism of the cultures that have occupied the city at different times.
The first day can close on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, right on the Paseo de Cristóbal Colón, where we will have a spectacular sunset with the Torre del Oro in the background.
Our second day can start early to visit three must-sees in the center of the city: the Real Alcázar of Seville, the María Luisa Park and the Plaza de España. Then, at the beginning of the afternoon, we can continue our way to the monumental sculpture of the Setas de Sevilla, an ultramodern structure of wood and concrete, located on the Plaza de la Encarnación. Being there, your photos will be sensational.
If we still have energy, we can cross the Guadalquivir to the Triana neighborhood. Once on the other side of the river, we will find the Andalusian Center for Contemporary Art, a pleasant enough space to close the tour of the emblematic sites of Seville.
After having seen such wonderful places, it is time to indulge ourselves, and in the central area of Triana we can find numerous bars and tapas places with excellent prices. Without a doubt, Seville has it all, and in two days we can make a fairly complete tour of this great city.
While you think about it, time continues to run, so make up your mind to see the best of Seville in two days.
