Stroll down the Rambla

A walk along the Rambla and Plaça de Catalunya

La Rambla stands out for being one of the most pleasant and lively places in Barcelona. There, cultural manifestations of all kinds converge, in combination with charming buildings and friendly vegetation on its sides.

In fact, this place is considered the favorite promenade of Barcelona, since, thanks to its unique atmosphere, this avenue has no comparison with others in the city. While we walk in it, we will find bars, cafes and varied shops, which guarantees entertainment from beginning to end.

Likewise, our tour of La Rambla can start from Plaça de Catalunya. On the other hand, Plaça de Catalunya is located at the upper end of La Rambla, halfway between the neighborhoods of Ciutat Vella and Ensanche. It has beautiful fountains and sculptures, and it is constituted as the center of the cultural identity of Barcelona.

Similarly, the square presents an idyllic setting in late afternoon, as its surroundings fill with people and the bustle increases. However, if you are looking to know the essence of the city, you will be in the right place.

We will love the Gothic Quarter

Few cities can be proud of having a Gothic Quarter, and even better if it is as well preserved as is the case in Barcelona. For this reason, this impressive area of the city cannot be missing from our one-day agenda.

There, in addition to taking excellent photos and transporting ourselves back in time as we walk through its narrow streets, we can also enjoy its lively commercial life, and, if the body asks for it, enjoy its exquisite gastronomic offer. Not for nothing is this neighborhood famous for hosting the best tapas in Barcelona.

In the middle of this area is another must-see in the city: Plaça del Rei. This is one of the oldest squares in the city, it stands out for the elevation of the buildings that surround it, and that make it a setting worthy of a literary work. In fact, this site enchants its visitors because it gives the feeling of really living other times.

What to see in one day in Barcelona

Sighting the port from the Mirador de Colón

At the southern end of La Rambla is the Mirador de Colón, a striking and ornate bronze statue that pays tribute to the intrepid sailor who discovered the sea route to America. The sculpture is impressive for its height, and for serving as a roundabout between the surrounding streets.

In the surroundings of this monument, is the Paseo de Colón, which offers wonderful views of the port of Barcelona, so you can relax while the sea catches your attention during the sunset. The best thing is to enjoy the walk while you take a walk until you reach the Plaça de Ictineo.

With this, our tour of Barcelona in one day will be more than complete. In addition, we will have done it without stress or pressure, since all these places are close to each other.
