What is the history of the Charles Bridge?

The Charles Bridge has risen over the Moldova river since medieval times, it was built with the intention of facilitating transit and trade among the inhabitants of the historic old part of Prague, and since its foundation in 1402, it has been present in the urban city skyline.

This bridge was built in a Gothic and Baroque style, very popular with constructions of the time, and today the original design and ornaments of the bridge can still be clearly seen.

Likewise, one of the most special features of the Charles Bridge are its towers, which stand at the entrance to the Prague Castle. Supported by large columns, the bridge also allows the passage of ships that cross the Moldova River, although in a limited way, since the structure is not a drawbar and only the arches between the columns give space to river traffic.
