One of the most representative buildings in Barcelona, the Casa de les Punxes, also known as Casa Terradas, is an icon of the modernist style, and one of the most important works of Josep Puig i Cadafalch.
The Casa de les Punxes has its origin in the Barcelona businessman, Bartomeu Terradas i Mont, who wanted to pay tribute to his daughters and wife with a great house. The person in charge of carrying out this task was the Catalan architect, Josep Puig i Cadafalch.
Casa Terradas is a mix of Gothic, Medieval and Modernist styles. At first glance it has a lot of similarity to a medieval castle, plus some details such as the balconies and the decoration are completely modernist. It was built with brick, in its structure the brown and reddish colors stand out, its inauguration year was 1905.
It has been a National Historic Monument since 1976, and its interior spaces were completely private until 2016. Due to its age, it has undergone various reforms, the most important being those that occurred in 1980 and in the same year of its reopening.
The Casa de les Punxes is located on Avenida Diagonal in Barcelona, between the Sagrada Familia and La Predera.
Casa Terradas is one of the most outstanding buildings in the Catalan capital, visitors are usually fascinated by its spectacular façade, its high peaks and the dimensions of the structure. Being located in a very busy area of the city of Barcelona, it is usual for Casa Terradas to attract glances, especially from tourists and visitors who are fascinated by its imposing appearance.

Some companies decided to take some spaces from the Casa de les Punxes to install their offices. These areas remain private and do not generally admit visitors.
The Casa de les Punxes offers a glimpse into Barcelona’s past, and the way wealthy families used to design and lay out their luxurious homes.
The beautiful details of medieval, gothic and modernist decoration abound in the interiors. The murals are made with tiles, the beautiful shape of the doors, the sturdy columns, the various statues, the wide windows and the delicate stained glass windows full of color.
