If you want to enjoy the summer without leaving the city, sunbathe and find places to rest in the metropolis, Barcelona is ideal. The city has an area of four kilometers on the coast with 7 beaches, each with its own characteristic. Join us to discover them!
Starting with Sant Sebastià beach, the oldest in the city. It is one of the largest, 660 meters long, and therefore one of the busiest. Among the activities that stand out the most to do there, is the projection of films in the open air and with free admission.
Next to Sant Sebastià, the Barceloneta beach extends, the one with the best access to public transport and the favorite of foreigners. Sports activities take place there throughout the year, but they peak between June and September.
If you prefer a quieter area to enjoy with the family, we recommend the Nova Icària beach, perfect for visiting with children as it has all the security and comforts they need. If what you are looking for is tranquility and security, Bogatell is your best option.
Renovated for the 1992 Olympic Games, Mar Bella is popular with young people and the most gay-friendly in Barcelona. In addition, it has numerous proposals for you to enjoy the tranquility by the sea.
Next to this beach, you will find Nova Mar Bella, another one created for the 1992 Games. It is one of those places that guarantees tranquility, because most of it is frequented by families.
Located further south, passing Nova Mar Bella, we find Llevant beach, the least crowded. Although it has few recreational activities, the basic services of a beach and the beauty of the landscape are never lacking.
Each beach has its charm and its activities so that each visitor feels comfortable doing what they like. For sports fans, Sant Sebastià has a sports club and Barceloneta has three courts with ping-pong tables and even a gymnastics area. And for those who enjoy jogging, Bogatell is ideal. But if you are looking for something more extreme, Mar Bella has a Skate Park and volleyball courts.
If your goal when vacationing is to rest and disconnect from the routine, Nova Mar Bella has a Biblio Playa, a library service next to the beach. What better way to relax in the summer than with a good book, the sea and the sunset in the background?
But if your thing is to spend the summer with the family, you cannot miss the opportunity to visit Nova Icària and Llevant beach, with an ideal climbing wall for children.
During the summer, there is a reinforcement in Barcelona’s public transport, to make it easier for residents and tourists to travel along the four kilometers of beaches. Being just 10 minutes from the center, just take the metro or bus to get to relax on the coast during the summer.
But it is also recommended that you approach the place in a sustainable and healthy way, it can be on foot or even by bicycle, if you want to enjoy the landscape and avoid suffering the traffic that you would find in the middle of the city. Near the beach there are bike racks, so that anyone who wants can come pedaling.
