If you want to go to a city full of history, traditions and culture, then the place you are looking for is Cordoba. Located in the Andalusia region, it is one of the most important tourist destinations in southern Europe. Will you visit Cordoba, but won’t you stay long? Don’t be discouraged! You will be able to know a lot about Cordoba in 2 days.
Cordoba is a wonderful city, and although it is far from being as cosmopolitan as Valencia, Madrid or Barcelona, it is still a very attractive point of interest for the millions of tourists who visit Spain every year.
In this city, visitors can find a wide variety of buildings, ruins, temples and architectural monuments that tell of the experiences of a metropolis that has centuries of history.
Cordoba is also famous for its pleasant Mediterranean climate, its beautiful cobbled streets, magnificent gardens, delicious gastronomy, extensive markets and exuberant cultural life.
Those who visit the city will be able to enjoy an unforgettable trip, even if they only spend a couple of days there.
Travelers who have a tight schedule, or a time limit to be in the city, can start their tour by visiting one of its most emblematic monuments, the Roman Bridge.
On the bridge, you will be able to appreciate a beautiful view of the city, in addition to seeing the river Guadalquivir up close. Then, you can continue your visit by heading to the Mosque-Cathedral, a cultural wonder and treasure of Mudejar art.
Once you have finished visiting the Mosque-Cathedral, set off towards the Jewish Quarter, from where you can reach the old Cordoba Synagogue.
To continue with the tour, you can go to the Calleja de las Flores, where the charming streets and the walls full of flowers will make you feel that you are going through a beautiful vertical garden.
To end the day, go to the Calahorra Tower, where you will enjoy a show provided by the Al-Andalus Living Museum. Then, if you still have some energy left, you can go eat tapas and enjoy a refreshing drink in one of the excellent bars in the central area of Cordoba.
To start the second part of your tour to Cordoba in 2 days, we suggest that you wake up early in the morning, to avoid the large groups of tourists, and go to the ruins of Medina Azahara.
This archaeological site belongs to an ancient Muslim city, which was part of Cordoba when it belonged to Al-Andalus.
The site, which has its own museum and guided tours, is extensive and full of things to discover, so it’s a good idea to spend a few hours a day on it.
Then, you can set off towards the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, a palace that was also a military fortress, and which currently houses one of the most beautiful gardens in the entire city.
But, if it is about gardens and palaces, you cannot miss the Viana Palace, a former royal residence that has become one of the favorite places for visitors.
To finish your walk, go to the Victoria Market, one of the most modern in the city, where you can find a nice souvenir of your trip to Cordoba in 2 days.
