The city of Amsterdam is world renowned for its more than 100 kilometers of internal canals. If you only have one day to be in it, it is essential to take a boat trip to see the canals and get an overview of the city.
Most tours last approximately 90 minutes, and are a great way to see many of the top sights Amsterdam has to offer. You can board the boat in front of Central Station, as well as in other places, including the Rokin canal and along the Leidsekade, at the entrance to Vondelpark.
After the cruise, it is very likely that the boat will drop you near the historic center of the city, which is a perfect place to appreciate the architectural beauty of the Dutch Golden Age, one of the most important times in the history of this country.
Being in Amsterdam, you will notice that its cultural life is quite rich and is full of many options. That is why during your one-day tour you can visit the iconic Museumplein, a space that is also known as the museum square. This square concentrates much of the cultural offerings of Amsterdam.
Surrounding this area are the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum, where there are unmissable artistic collections. After the museum, it is possible to relax in the nearby Vondelpark.
If you have the energy to keep touring, Leidseplein marks the gateway to the city’s main shopping district, which runs from Leidsestraat to the Kalverstraat shopping arcade, and is completely worth a tour.
On the other hand, the Anne Frank Museum is one of the must-sees of the Dutch capital, however, there are long lines every day to buy entrance tickets. If you have enough patience to wait, do not hesitate to visit this place, but if you do not want to miss other places, you can leave this museum for another visit.
As night falls, Amsterdam still has a lot to offer its visitors. If you are not afraid of new experiences, and you like to know what is hidden at night in the city, then taking a tour of the Red Light District may be to your liking. It is understandable if you prefer not to enter any of its establishments. However, the simple fact of walking through this area will be more than an adventure.
After closing your visit to this neighborhood, which is one of the most famous in Europe for all that is exhibited, you have the opportunity to go to one of the clubs around Rembrandtplein, or to one of the live music venues near Leidseplein.
In any case, regardless of your interests, Amsterdam guarantees you endless news that will leave you thirsty to return to its streets. This is the main reason to make the most of your tour of Amsterdam in one day.
