Enjoying a city in such a short time has never been as pleasant as in Amsterdam, a place that has numerous activities for all tastes to see in two days. From green spaces to cultural sites, Amsterdam has it all.
The city has many museums of cultural interest whose visit has become an obligatory stop over the years, several of them can be visited in just one day.
One of them is the Anne Frank House, located on the banks of the Prinsengracht canal. Upon entering, brochures explaining the history and highlights during the visit are handed out.
The tour continues to the Van Gogh Museum, a space that houses the largest collection of the Dutch painter, with more than 200 paintings and 400 drawings. However, to learn more about his life, in addition to contemplating the paintings, it is recommended to book a guided tour.
To end the day, the National Museum is an Amsterdam must-see. By touring it you learn more about the country’s art history, from the Middle Ages to the last century. In addition, it houses numerous pieces of great value such as precious porcelain collections and some of the best paintings of the Dutch Golden Age.
Day two in the city is dedicated to touring those must-see neighborhoods that are close to some of Amsterdam’s most important tourist sites. One of them is the Jordaan Quarter, the old Jewish quarter that has the most original stores and the best cafes.
One of its tourist attractions is the Westerkerk Church, in Renaissance style and with a high tower, perfect for enjoying views of the entire city.
Another of the most amazing places in Amsterdam is the Red Light District. This place is famous for its lively nightlife, and although it may seem against the law, prostitution there is legalized and even taxes are paid.
Visiting this area of the city allows you to discover a different world, both at night and during the day. In fact, nearby is the oldest flea market with more than 300 stalls where second-hand objects are traded. It is the Waterlooplein, an ideal place to walk around the area during the day.
In the tour of the city you cannot miss some of the most popular places to visit. Starting with Leidseplein square, famous for its terraces and lively nightlife. There you will find numerous bars and restaurants where you can enjoy the most typical dishes of Dutch cuisine.
Many prefer to spend the day cycling around the city, playing sports or simply disconnecting from the hustle and bustle of the city. For this reason the ideal place is the Vondelpark. This 47-hectare area also has a great variety of flora, fauna, lakes and even an open-air theater.
To finish the tour, a little further away from the city center you reach the Hortus Botanicus. It is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world where you can enjoy a true oasis of peace, surrounded by more than 4000 types of plants.
