Its founder, George Carstensen, convinced King Christian VIII to acquire the current land of Tivoli to build the recreational place that the monarch wanted so much. With the construction of the Town Hall and the Central Station around Tivoli, the park was located in the heart of the Danish capital. In addition, it receives almost four million foreign visitors annually.
